I Really Love the Souq! #20

Eric brought himself and all the boys "inspired by Rolex" watches for Christmas. Of course we knew they weren't real, because who can afford a real Rolex? We took them to a jeweler in CO to be sized.  He said they were really good knock offs as far as knock offs go. He said he never calls them fake, but rather inspired by Rolex. Eric had been at the Souq with colleagues when he bought them and couldn't remember where "the hole in the wall" place was. One evening we got his friend, Mindy, to help us find it. Now I know where it is! Being there that night gave me the confidence to go by myself! The next day I took an uber and had so much fun! I saw a part that felt it was more for locals, like spices, bikes, pet food stuff like that. It was fun to watch all the people. Then I found my way to more of the main shops. I found a tiny fabric store. There I got to watch a very cranky local woman ask to have some fabric cut. I have no idea what she didn't like about it, but she started yelling at the shop owner. He yelled back and this kept going for about a minute. Finally, he just shook his head and cut a new piece for her. Eric says I should never take the price listed and offer lower, so I asked if i got a discount for being nice. He said yes! I wandered into another shop to buy some gifts. In this store, they kept showing me things and I had such a hard time saying no! Eric doesn't think i should make any more solo trips to the Souq!🤣 Between what I bought at other shops and this one, I had a lot of stuff! They wrapped everything and got a big bag to put it all in together. They told me it was too heavy for me and they would help me get an Uber. One of them walked me to the pick up spot. He wanted to look at my Uber app so he could check the license plate number and make sure I got in the right car. I always do that myself, but I thought it was very sweet that he was watching out for me.

When I got home and unpacked all my fun purchases, I realized that two things were missing. I was so sad that I might have wasted money on things I didn’t even get.
A few days later, Eric had a day off and drove me back down there. As we were walking up to the shop, the man who had walked me to my Uber saw us and called out “my friend”.  He reached under a table and had my two things waiting for me! His friend quickly brought us cold water and they apologized that my things hadn’t all been in my bag. I just love when people are honest!
